The pasta photo we all pretend isn't ours

Honest question from a slow learner: what's the one change that took your tomato sauce from fine to good? This one looks like a stock photo from 1998, and I still want it.

Finish the pasta in the sauce with some pasta water. Biggest upgrade for the least effort.

More salt than you think, then a bit of butter at the end.

Tomato paste, cooked until it darkens, before anything wet goes in.
