Waves are impossible to photograph and I keep trying

This is Camogli, in Italy. Somebody got the timing and the scale exactly right, and I'm very jealous. What shutter speed do you use for this kind of spray?

As fast as you can manage for frozen spray, 1/1000 or more. Then try something slow, just to see.

Keep an eye on your feet, and your gear. The seventh wave isn't a myth when you've got a camera in your hand.
